WebGPU est une API graphique de bas niveau qui permet aux applications Web de restituer des graphiques hautes performances à l'aide du matériel graphique de l'utilisateur. Elle a été développée comme successeur de WebGL. WebGPU peut également collecter des informations sur les appareils, qui peuvent être utilisées pour créer une empreinte digitale de navigateur unique. En comparant les artefacts de rendu matériel et les différences de performances, les scripts d'empreinte digitale peuvent potentiellement identifier et suivre les utilisateurs individuels sur le Web.
